General Rules and Regulations – 2017

  1. Entries are open to the general public of the Damascus area and surrounding communities.

  2. Livestock Entries (Beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, fowl, rabbits, and small animals) are required to be mailed.  Entries must be postmarked no later than by August 28, 2017.  No hand-delivered or late entries will be accepted.  Forms may be obtained at: Four County Animal Hospital (across from McDonalds in Damascus): or call Tom Smith 301-607-8280.  Please mail entries to: Damascus Community Fair, P.O. Box 531, Damascus, MD 20872. No Pre-School age division entries.

  3. All entries (Sections A-M, O-Q) will be accepted Thursday, September 7, 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Note: The entry process will be quicker if you list all entries and identify the Class by Section Letter and Number. Mailing address labels can be affixed to entry tags. 

  4. All persons making entries must keep the stub of the entry tag and return it to the persons in charge when picking up the entries.

  5. Items entered incorrectly will be disqualified.

  6. Each exhibitor will be limited to one entry per class, unless otherwise stated.

  7. All entries must have been grown/created/owned by the exhibitor within the past twelve months, unless otherwise stated herein: no commercial products are to be judged in any class.

  8. Entries previously exhibited at the Damascus Community Fair are not eligible, unless otherwise stated.

  9. There will be separate age divisions for:

    Pre-School: Under 5

    Child: 5 - 12

    Teen: 13 through 18

    Adult: 19 and over

  10. Ribbons will be given as warranted for first, second, third, Champion, and Grand Champion.   Money premiums will be as follows providing the revenue is available

                        Grand Champion….             ….$2.50 + Rosette

                        Champion………….             .…$2.25 + Purple Ribbon

                        First………………...             ….$2.00 + Blue Ribbon

                        Second………….....             ….$1.75 + Red Ribbon

                        Third………………..             .…$1.50 + White Ribbon

                        Special Awards …...             .....see Special Awards Section

 

  1. Classes may be added or altered as justified and approved by the appropriate Superintendent

  2. If there are less than three entries in a class, the cash prize and ribbons will be determined  by the judges.

  3. Ribbons will be placed on the exhibits and they must remain with the exhibits in the showroom until Sunday, September 10 at 4:00 PM. NO ENTRIES WILL BE RELEASED BEFORE 4 PM.

  4. The Fair will be open to the public from 12 noon to 9 PM Friday, from 8 AM to 8 PM on Saturday, and 9 AM to 4 PM on Sunday.

  5. The Community Fair sponsors will do all in their power to safeguard the products exhibited, but in no case will they be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.

  6. Exhibits must not be handled in any way while on display.

  7. Positively no smoking after entering the building.

  8. Premiums will be available from 4 - 6 PM on Sunday, the final day of the fair. All premiums not collected become donations to the fair.  NO PREMIUMS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AFTER 6 PM.

  9. All exhibits must be removed by 6:00 PM Sunday, the final day of the fair. All exhibits left on Sunday night will be donated to charity.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

The Directors of the Damascus Community Fair reserve the right to pass on any decision not covered by these rules.
