Contest Eligibility

  1. To be eligible, you must be between 12 and 18 years old as of January 1, 2018. You must be a
    member of a Montgomery County 4-H or Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization, or a resident of the Damascus School Cluster.

  2. All applications must be submitted with a wallet sized photo to the fair committee postmarked no later than August 24, 2018. Late applications cannot be accepted.

  3. Court members will be selected from the royalty applicants. From those members, a Fair King and Queen, and a Prince and Princess will be named during the coronation ceremony, Friday, September 7, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Pole Barn at the Fair. The Prince and Princess will be selected only if more than 1 applicant applies for each King and Queen position.

  4. Winner will be expected to participate in various activities throughout the fair weekend.

  5. Applications can be picked up at Gladhill Brothers in Damascus after June 25th, 2018.

 

Duties and Responsibilities


As Fair royalty, you will be required to represent the Damascus Community Fair during the fair weekend and at several community events (Damascus Days Parade, the Montgomery County Fair Parade, the Damascus Community Fair Banquet). A detailed schedule will be given to the Fair Royalty following the coronation. The schedule will include but is not limited to, passing out ribbons and awards at all livestock and pet shows, assist during the cake auction, and other related activities as needed. The Fair Royalty can expect to be devoted to the Fair for the full Saturday and Sunday. You may earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours while serving as Fair Royalty. Please be sure to bring the completed SSL paperwork at the conclusion of the Fair.

 

Selection Process
 

A panel of impartial judges will select the applicants that will compete for the King and Queen. During the coronation, each participant will be required to provide a brief introduction and will be required to answer a fishbowl question. 


These finalists will be notified by August 31, 2018. The King and Queen, Prince and Princess will be announced during the coronation ceremony, Friday September 7, 2018.
 

Awards and Prizes
 

Queen will receive a tiara, sash and a $50 award. The King will receive a medallion and a $50 award. The Princess will receive a tiara, sash and a $25 award. The Prince will receive a medallion and a $25 award.
